KITCHEN DESIGN KAPITI COAST

Your Local Kitchen Design Team, Right Across the Kapiti Coast

One Paraparaumu workshop, four decades of craftsmanship, and a genuine understanding of every community from Paekakariki to Otaki.

Looking for a kitchen design team that actually understands the Kapiti Coast? Chatswood Kitchens has been designing and manufacturing bespoke kitchens for Kapiti Coast homeowners since 1982, right from our own Paraparaumu workshop. Over four decades, we’ve learned that no two communities on this coast are quite the same – the character villas of Paekakariki, the beachfront properties of Paraparaumu Beach and Waikanae Beach, the architectural heritage of Waikanae, and the heritage villas and rural blocks of Otaki all call for a different approach.

That’s why we don’t treat the Kapiti Coast as one homogenous area. Our kitchen design service is built around genuine local knowledge of each community we serve – the housing stock, the coastal exposure, the lifestyle. Wherever you are between Paekakariki and Otaki, you’ll get the same in-house design, manufacturing, and installation team, and the same commitment to a kitchen that’s designed from scratch around your home. That’s the Chatswood difference – and it’s why homeowners across the entire Kapiti Coast keep choosing us.

WHY THE KAPITI COAST CHOOSES CHATSWOOD

The Chatswood Advantage

One Workshop, the Whole Coast.

Every kitchen for every Kapiti Coast suburb is designed and manufactured at our single Paraparaumu workshop. Whether you're in Paekakariki or Otaki, you get the same in-house team, the same CNC precision, and the same quality control from concept to installation.

We Know Every Street, Not Just the Postcode.

Forty years on this coast means we understand the character villas of Paekakariki, the beachfront exposure of Paraparaumu Beach, the heritage architecture of Waikanae, and the rural blocks of Otaki. We design around your specific area, not a generic template.

Coastal Material Expertise, Wherever You Are.

Salt air affects properties differently depending on how exposed they are. We specify marine-grade hardware, corrosion-resistant fittings, and moisture-resistant substrates appropriate to your specific location on the coast.

No Off-the-Shelf Solutions.

Every kitchen we design is built from a blank canvas - tailored to your home's specific dimensions, your lifestyle, and your personal style, wherever on the coast you are. We don't adapt templates; we design original kitchens. That's what bespoke means.

One Central Showroom You Can Visit.

Our Te Roto Drive showroom in Paraparaumu sits centrally on the coast, an easy drive from Paekakariki to Otaki. Come in Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm to see real materials, test drawer systems, feel benchtop surfaces, and meet the team who'll be working on your home. No appointment needed.

Here for the Long Term.

Chatswood has been on the Kapiti Coast since 1982. We're not going anywhere. Every kitchen we install comes with comprehensive warranties on cabinetry, hardware, and workmanship - and we'll still be right here if you need us in five or fifteen years.

KAPITI COAST KITCHEN DESIGN FAQ

Your Kapiti Coast Kitchen Questions Answered

Which areas of the Kapiti Coast do you serve?

We design and install kitchens right across the Kapiti Coast District, including Paekakariki, Paraparaumu, Paraparaumu Beach, Raumati Beach, Raumati South, Waikanae, Waikanae Beach and Otaki. Every project is manufactured at our own Paraparaumu workshop and installed by our in-house team, regardless of which of these communities you’re in.

Does it cost more if I'm further from your workshop?

No. We don’t charge travel surcharges anywhere within the Kapiti Coast, whether you’re in Paekakariki at the southern end or Otaki at the northern end. Being locally based means fast, no-cost site visits regardless of your specific suburb.

How much does a kitchen renovation cost on the Kapiti Coast?

Kitchen design projects across the Kapiti Coast typically range from $25,000 to $65,000+ depending on the size of the kitchen, materials chosen, and project complexity. Older or character homes sometimes involve additional preparation work – removing old cabinetry, addressing underlying structure, or adjusting plumbing and electrical to suit a new layout. We provide detailed, transparent quotes during your complimentary consultation so there are no surprises.

How long does a kitchen renovation take?

Most Kapiti Coast kitchen renovations take 6-8 weeks from final design approval to completion. Manufacturing at our Paraparaumu workshop typically takes 3-4 weeks, followed by professional installation over 1-2 weeks. Our project managers coordinate all trades throughout – plumbers, electricians, and any other contractors required – so you have a single point of contact from start to finish.

Do you offer free consultations across the region?

Yes. Every Kapiti Coast homeowner is welcome to a complimentary showroom consultation, followed by an in-home visit where we take detailed measurements, discuss your vision and lifestyle requirements, and create full 3D renders showing exactly how your new kitchen will look. This comprehensive service comes at no cost and with no obligation whatsoever, wherever on the coast you are.

Can I visit your Paraparaumu showroom?

Absolutely. Our showroom at 46 Te Roto Drive, Paraparaumu sits centrally on the coast, an easy drive whether you’re coming from Paekakariki or Otaki. We display materials, finishes, hardware, and full kitchen examples. No appointment necessary – drop in Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.

Can I see your work before committing?

Of course. Our portfolio showcases over 1,200 completed Kapiti Coast kitchen projects across every community we serve. You can also visit our showroom to see materials, hardware, and finished cabinetry examples in person, and workshop tours are available so you can watch your kitchen being made.

Do you handle all the tradespeople required?

Yes, completely, across every area we serve. Our kitchen renovation service includes full trades coordination – plumbers, electricians, plasterers, and any other specialists your project requires. We work with trusted local tradespeople we’ve partnered with for years, ensuring consistent quality no matter where on the coast your home is.

What makes Chatswood different from other Kapiti Coast kitchen companies?

We’re one of the few Kapiti Coast kitchen companies that designs, manufactures and installs entirely in-house – no subcontracted joinery, no outsourced installers. That’s been our model since 1982, and it means the same team is accountable for your kitchen from the first sketch to the final fit, wherever on the coast you call home.
